5 Things You Need To Know

September 18th is the 261st day of the year. There are 104 days remaining until the end of the year.

It’s Movie Night at the Capitol!

Come by the Chatham Capitol Theatre tonight at 7 to see Godzilla: King Of The Monsters on the big screen.

$5 cash at the door, or flash your pass. Everyone is welcome. Concessions are available.

Three-time Olympic gold medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir announce they will retire from skating after their upcoming cross-Canada tour.

Virtue and Moir are the most decorated Olympic figure skaters of all time. They’re set to perform in the cross-county Rock the Rink tour beginning in October, and that will be it.

It was announced yesterday that Scott and Tessa will receive an honorary degree from Western University during a convocation ceremony on October 23rd.

Back in December of 2017, three videos were posted online that showed footage taken by U.S. Navy pilots that supposedly showed UFOs.

Well the Navy just addressed them and said they’re real. They can’t identify the flying objects and the videos never should’ve been released to the public.

Merriam-Webster just announced 533 new words they’re adding to the dictionary. It’s become pretty clear we’re not contributing great things to the English language in this day and age.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • dad joke (noun), “a wholesome joke of the type said to be told by fathers with a punchline that is often an obvious or predictable pun or play on words and usually judged to be endearingly corny or unfunny”
  • escape room (noun), “a game in which participants confined to a room or other enclosed setting . . . are given a set amount of time to find a way to escape as by discovering hidden clues and solving a series of riddles or puzzles”
  • vacay (noun), “vacation”
  • inspo (noun), “inspiration”
  • deep state (noun), “an alleged secret network of especially nonelected government officials . . . operating extra-legally to influence and enact government policy”
  • stinger (noun), “a short scene that appears during or after the closing credits of a movie or TV program”

Philadelphia Cream Cheese created a new hole punching device that, they say, lets you turn any food into a bagel.

The novelty device is called a “Bagel That” device, that’s basically a giant hole punch.

The gadget is selling on Amazon for $10, but it looks like it’s already sold out.
