Director of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” defends video
Taylor Swift under fire for her new video.
There are accusations that “Wildest Dreams”, set in Africa, has racist connotations.
People are attacking it for its mostly white cast and suggesting that it presented an “African colonial fantasy”.
But director Joseph Kahn (who also directed Bad Blood and Blank Space) says that it “is not a video about colonialism but a love story on the set of a period film crew in Africa, 1950.”
The video was reportedly shot in Botswana and South Africa, and follows Taylor as a Hollywood actor who falls in love with her co-star on set.
