The Big Bang Theory” is currently in its 10th season, and it’s unclear if it’ll continue beyond that.  But there’s already a spin-off in the works.

CBS is developing a prequel series about a YOUNG version of Dr. Sheldon Cooper.  That’s the character that JIM PARSONS plays.

According to the “Hollywood Reporter”, it could be a little like “Malcolm in the Middle”, with a teenage version of Sheldon.  There have been several references to his childhood . . . growing up as a gifted kid in Texas with a religious mother.

The creators of “The Big Bang Theory” are involved . . . and Parsons will be a producer.  It doesn’t sound like something any of the other cast members would be involved in . . . but with Hollywood, you never know.

As for “The Big Bang Theory”, the cast IS reportedly negotiating contract extensions, but it’s unclear if that will work out . . . mostly because they’re already making a TON of money.

If the new show gets off the ground, it could be a part of CBS’ fall schedule next year.
