Five Things - 2Yesterday McDonald’s Canada began offering the option of books with their Happy Meals (kids can still choose the toy if they want)

They’ve joined with children’s publisher Kids Can Press to do this, which means the featured books will be Canadian, including Franklin the Turtle, Scaredy Squirrel, Life in the Wild and the Dragon Safety Series.

McDonald’s also wants you to post a shelfie (pic of your book shelf) with the tag #OwnABookGiveABook, and they’ll donate a book to First Book Canada, who provide books to kids in need!

Five Things - 3Instagram released face filters and some other cool features yesterday.

Face filters are pretty much a rip off of the Snapchat filters.

Other features include videos that run reverse with Rewind, you can now add hashtag stickers and there’s an eraser brush that lets you get creative.

Five Things - 4The NFL has announced that ESPN’s Beth Mowins will call the Monday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos on September 11th.

It’s the first time in Monday Night Football history that a woman has called a game as the lead broadcaster. Beth has called Oakland Raiders exhibition games for the last two years.

Five Things - 5At a Lowe’s home improvement store in Virginia the employees are experimenting with wearing a sci-fi exosuit that allows them to lift extra heavy objects without a sweat.

It’s a project done in conjunction with Virginia Tech.
