Chatham-Kent has announced extra garbage collection dates for flooded properties in Chatham and Thamesville.

Residents and business owners who have extra garbage due to the flooding will be able to have it removed next week.

In Thamesville, regular garbage plus excess garbage bags and boxes will be picked up on Tuesday while excess garbage and bulk items will be picked up on Friday.

Chatham streets affected by flooding will be cleaned up on Wednesday and Thursday.

All garbage must be contained in garbage bags, cardboard boxes, garbage containers, or tote carts if possible. If items like carpets or underpads cannot be contained then they’ll need to be bundled and tied and cut up into five-ft. lengths.

Bulk items such as furniture damaged by the flood will also be collected.

The St. Clair College Alumni Association is sponsoring a free skate at the Thames Campus Arena from 1-2:30.

The Wheatley Arena is open 3-4:30 for the family to hit the ice for a skate.


The 90th Academy Awards will air Sunday night on ABC. Jimmy Kimmel will host.

The Academy is bringing Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty back to present the Best Picture award again. They got were the goats last year when they were handed the wrong envelope.

Supposedly, they’ve already had a rehearsal.


A guy in Florida may have set a new record for world’s tallest hat.

It hasn’t been verified by Guinness yet. But it’s 18 feet 9 inches tall, which would crush the current record of 9 feet 9 inches.


TLC is doing a series about Dr. Sandra Lee, who’s better known as Dr. Pimple Popper.

She’s the woman who does those disgusting-yet-impossible-to-turn-away-from YouTube videos where she pops people’s pimples, cysts, and boils.
