Three new movies this weekend and all showing locally at Chatham Galaxy Cinemas.
In the four years since Entourage went off the air, Jeremy Piven’s character Ari has become head of a movie studio. He asks Adrien Grenier’s character, Vincent Chase, to star in his next movie, which Vincent also wants to direct.
Unfortunately, as a first-time director he has no sense of what it means to stay within budget. Billy Bob Thornton is the guy bankrolling the film, and Haley Joel Osment is his son, who’s going to report back to his dad on whether the film’s worth saving or not.
In the romance department, Vincent is chasing after “Blurred Lines” model Emily Ratajkowski, Turtle gets in the ring with Ronda Rousey to convince her to go out with him, and Emmanuelle Chriqui returns as Eric’s ex-girlfriend, who’s knocked up.
Mark Wahlberg has a cameo as himself. You may remember he was the original inspiration for Vince’s character. The other celebrity cameos include Jessica Alba, Liam Neeson, Pharrell, T.I., Kelsey Grammer, Ed O’Neill, Mike Tyson, Bob Saget, George Takei, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
Melissa McCarthy plays a CIA analyst who goes undercover to catch an international arms dealer, who knows the identity of all the top agents, which include Jason Statham and Jude Law. Allison Janney from “The West Wing” plays their boss, and Rose Byrne from the “Insidious” movies is the villain.
This is Melissa McCarthy’s third movie with director Paul Feig. They did “Bridesmaids” and “The Heat” together. And he’s also directing her in next year’s “Ghostbusters” movie.
Insidious Chapter 3 (14A)
It’s a prequel featuring Elise, the psychic from the first two movies. She goes to the other side to help a girl who’s targeted by a creature trying to feed on her soul. The girl is Stefanie Scott from the Disney Channel’s “A.N.T. Farm” and the upcoming “Jem and the Holograms” movie. Dermot Mulroney plays her dad.
