The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign begins at locations across Chatham today.
The Wallaceburg Kettles begin next Thursday, Blenheim and Ridgetown will roll out in the weeks to follow.
Volunteers are needed to stand with the kettles, 1992 shifts will need to be filled over the holiday season. Reach out to the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army if you have some time to volunteer. Call 519-354-1430.
The goal this year is $500,000 to help those in need in our community. All funds raised stays local.
Kettles will be out until Christmas Eve.
Santa Claus is coming to town!
Two Santa Claus parades in C-K this weekend.
The Chatham Santa Claus Parade is tomorrow beginning at 6:30 and Wallaceburg on Saturday at 2.

China has built an artificial sun that reaches temperatures six times greater than the real sun.
The state-of-the-art machine is designed to replicate the processes of the sun. It hit a landmark this week when it reached 180 million F for the first time.
This is believed to be the temperature at which nuclear fusion occurs, when that happens, scientists believe they will unlock a source of near-limitless clean energy worth billions that could save the planet from the climate change crisis.

Three weeks ago someone won the $1.5 billion Mega Million jackpot, and lottery officials still don’t know who that is.
They do know the winning ticket was sold at a store in Simpsonville, South Carolina. It was the largest US jackpot won by a single ticket and the nation’s second-largest jackpot ever. The winner can pick between a one-time cash option of $878 million, before taxes, or the full $1.5 billion, before taxes, paid in annuities over 29 years.
The winner still has 100 days to come forward; Winners must claim prize within 180 days from the draw date.
Lottery winners in South Carolina have the option of staying anonymous.
What if they don’t come forward? The funds are returned to the states that sell Mega Millions tickets, the unclaimed prize money goes into an unclaimed prize fund that supports education.

Smirnoff is selling vodka-filled holiday ornaments.
The clear ornaments look like a Smirnoff vodka bottle and feature the company’s logo and Christmas lights.
Some users have complained that they bulbs are too heavy to actually hang from a tree branch.
The ornaments sell for $12.99.
