We have a winner!
Bert Vanderheide of Blenheim won the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance 50/50 jackpot, taking home $149,180! The fundraiser has broken the local record of just over $80,000 at the International Plowing Match. The money raised through the draw will be used for a new laser at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s urology program.

Yesterday was the last day of school, but today is technically a PD Day, and there are free swims this afternoon. Swim for free in Wallaceburg from 1:30-4 and in Blenheim from 1:30-3 today.
The Festival of Nations returns to Chatham tomorrow. Festivities begin with a parade at 11am, followed by a day of entertainment and eats in Tecumseh Park. Fireworks will be held tomorrow night at St. Clair College Thames Campus. Events continue Sunday and Monday as well, with Loverboy performing Sunday night at 8pm. See the full schedule here:
It’s the Canada Day Weekend. Events are happening across the Municipality including tonight in Ridgetown with a parade at 6:30 and fireworks at dusk at the fairgrounds. The Tilbury BIA also have fireworks tonight at Memorial Park, along with music, face painting and treats.
On Monday, Glad Tidings Church in Blenheim will host their annual fireworks display.
Now that summer is here, the average person will spend 23 hours on road trips with family over the next 2 months. During those 23 hours, we’ll stop 11 times for bathroom breaks, and hear things like “are we there yet” and “how much longer” about 17 times. Sounds fun!
