The Municipality of Chatham-Kent now has more information for those wishing to defer their property tax payments.

Property owners must contact the municipality to stop automatic withdrawals or to have their post-dated cheques withheld from deposit.

Property owners who use pre-authorized payment plans or post-dated cheques to pay their tax installments and want to temporarily stop those payments without penalty can find instructions HERE.

Taxpayers can request to be removed from pre-authorized payment plans by calling the tax department at 519-360-1998 or by completing the Preauthorized Payment Change or Cancellation Form and emailing [email protected].


The border between the United States and Canada will remain closed to non-essential travel for at least another month.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement on Saturday morning. The border was originally closed on March 18 to all non-essential travel, including tourism and recreation, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Canadian government will work closely with the U.S. to ensure the safety of residents and ensure that vital supply chains remain open.
