5 Things You Need To Know

April 7th is the 98th day of the year. There are 268 days remaining until the end of the year.

C-K Councillors approved changing the property tax due date from May 1st to July 10th for residents and businesses at last nights council meeting.

The goal is to give residents some breathing room due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For years the Chatham Goodfellows have made it their goal that no child goes without a Christmas. This year, they’re making sure no child goes without an Easter.

The Goodfellows board voted unanimously voted over the weekend to do what they could to provide some Easter treats to families in need during the COVID-19 crisis.

Giant Tiger donated some treats, and some were purchased then delivered to FreeHelp CK, the WISH Centre, and Outreach for Hunger.

Families in need who need some Easter treats for their children need to contact one of the organizations. Due to social distancing, residents cannot show up to the location to register and must call ahead for direction.

Here are the contact numbers for the organizations listed:

A couple of cute stories involving world leaders…

Back in March, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a message for Canadian children about how they can do their part in the fight against COVID.

Digital Marketing Manager Tyler Walsh decided to make the message even more accessible to children, he put together a stop motion animated LEGO film with the audio from the press conference.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern,  announced yesterday that the Easter Bunny is considered an “essential worker” right now. And we’re pretty sure it applies in Canada too. She said the Tooth Fairy is also allowed to keep working. But she was careful to note they might not be able to make it to everyone’s home right now.

Detroit Tiger and Baseball Hall of Famer Al Kaline died yesterday at the age of 85.

He played his entire, 22-year career in Detroit, earning him the nickname Mr. Tiger.

Kaline was on the 1968 team that won the World Series and holds the franchise record for home runs with 399. He was the Tigers’ television analyst from 1976 to 2002, mostly alongside play-by-play announcer and fellow Hall-of-Famer George Kell. His #6 is retired by the Tigers.

All McDonald’s in the U.K. are shut down right now because of COVID-19. So the company released a simple recipe for Sausage Egg McMuffins.

If you want a “North American” one, just use Canadian bacon instead of sausage.
