5 Things You Need To Know

May 8th is the 129th day of the year. There are 237 days remaining until the end of the year.


In case you missed it, nursery and garden centres are free to reopen today.

Hardware stores and safety supply stores Saturday and on Monday retail stores with street entrances will be permitted to reopen for curbside pickup.

Social distancing measures will be in place.


The PPE Drive Drop Off is open again today.

Thames Campus Arena is open for the public to leave their donations of medical masks, gloves, face shields, goggles, and medical gowns, etc.

The drop off station will open from 10-2:30 Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Donors can bring their donations inside the main front doors of the arena, place them on the table in the ticket area and exit the building for social distancing. Donations must be dropped inside the building.


Beginning today until May 21st, McDonald’s is teaming up with the Canadian Red Cross to donate a portion of every french fry sale to the coronavirus relief effort.

It’s called Fries for Good.


Tim Horton’s has launched DIY Mother’s Day Donut Kits at participating restaurants across Canada.

Each kit contains six plain doughnuts, one container of chocolate buttercream icing, one container of vanilla buttercream icing, one container of colour confetti sprinkles, and one container of chocolate chips. Kits cost $9.99 each.


Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning are golfing together to raise money for coronavirus-related causes, including Direct Relief, the American Red Cross, Save Small Business, and the All-In Challenge.

It’s called The Match: Champions for Charity, and it’ll be simulcast on TNT, TBS, truTV, and HLN on Sunday, May 24th at 3:00 P.M.

Tiger and Peyton will go up against Phil and Tom and the competition will include: A Best Ball format on the Front Nine, and a Modified Alternate Shot format on the Back Nine. That’s where everyone tees off, but then plays alternate shots from the selected drive.

There will be several on-course challenges, and the golfers will be mic’d up.

The golfers have said they will donate $10 million to Covid-19 relief.
