Courts in Chatham and in Windsor will reopen for in-person hearings in two weeks.
Some courtrooms across Ontario to be open for family law matters starting July 6th. The Ministry of the Attorney General said it’s Phase 1 of an overall plan to return to full court operations across Ontario by November 1, 2020.
The ministry has been renovating each courthouse and adding health and safety measures to protect the public and staff from COVID-19.
The ministry said more information will be released soon.
The town of South Bruce Peninsula has shut down all of its beaches, including Sauble Beach.
The town’s Mayor outlined the circumstances that led to this difficult decision in a Facebook post.
The Town of South Bruce had begun the process of reopening beaches only a few weeks ago, with hopes of being fully running by the long weekend. However, the last two weekends revealed the “recklessness of beachgoer’s” and prompted the beaches to be shut down.
Closer to home, Essex Town Council has voted to close Colchester Beach until further notice after an emergency meeting Monday night.
Over the weekend, photos circulated on social media of large crowds on the beach. In the images, many of the visitors appeared not wearing masks, and not social distancing.
It’s official: Baseball is back. Players will report to their camps next week.
The league and the union agreed on Tuesday on health and safety protocols that will govern the sport as it attempts to return amid the pandemic.
Opening Day will be either July 23rd or 24th with a 60-game season that will run through September 27th.

The company that makes Segway scooters just announced they’re going away, 19 years after they debuted.
The first Segway PT model came out in 2001. (It stands for Personal Transporter.) And everyone wanted one, but the $5,000 price tag was a little steep. So in two decades, they only sold 140,000 of them. Mostly to cops and private security firms.
Segway’s parent company will still make smaller self-balancing scooters that are cheaper and easier to ride. But the original Segway that we know and love won’t be manufactured after July 15th.
