Expect temperatures in the low to mid thirties as the first week of July plans to bring the heat.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for most of southwestern Ontario with extreme temperatures expected Thursday through Sunday, and potentially into early next week.

Most of southwestern Ontario will experience intense daytime highs near 35 C with overnight lows near 20 C. Environment Canada warns people that extreme heat can affect anyone. They are reminding people to drink plenty of water before feeling thirsty, to stay in a cool place, and monitor symptoms while outdoors to avoid heat related illnesses.


A pop-up food bank has opened at the Chatham Hope Haven shelter, providing free food for those in need every Monday from noon to 4 p.m., while supplies last. 

Food bank at the shelter is located inside the New Beginnings church at 183 Wellington St. W. in Chatham.

NASA has made an incredible 10-year time lapse of the sun’s fiery rotation

This month marks a full decade of NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) doing the staring at the sun for us. It’s been studying the star closest to Earth non-stop from orbit, gathering 425 million high-resolution images since June 2010.

Researchers at M.I.T. built a robot that blasts UV light, and can disinfect a 4,000 square foot warehouse in 30 minutes.

UV-C light has proven to be effective at killing viruses and bacteria on surfaces and aerosols, but it’s unsafe for humans to be exposed. Fortunately, Ava’s telepresence robot doesn’t require any human supervision.
