January 19th is the 19th day of 2021. There are 346 days remaining until the end of the year.


A fifth Chatham-Kent resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died.

The woman in her 80’s passed on Saturday.

Chatham-Kent Public Health reported that death Monday morning along with 46 new cases of the virus that came in over the weekend.

There were also 55 more resolved cases reported, so the number of active COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent is down to 104.

Ontario reported 2,578 new cases Monday. The hotspots are Toronto, York, Peel, Niagara and Hamilton.


The first of three community consultation meetings will be held on the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed today.

C-K citizens are welcome to join in and be a part of the process.

The meeting will begin on Facebook at noon.

Other consultation meetings will happen on Wednesday and Thursday.


No one won Friday’s Mega Millions lottery jackpot so tonight’s drawing is worth $850 million with a lump sum cash payout of $628.2 million.

USA Mega did a study to find the most common picked Mega Millions numbers. The most common  numbers drawn since October 2017 are: 22, 11, 9, 10, and 19.

If you miss out on that big jackpot, how about tomorrow’s Powerball? Its worth $730 million.


Paczki Day is coming up February 16th.

In Windsor, Craft Heads Brewery has announced it is teaming up with Blak’s Bakery to create a Paczki flavoured craft beer.

The beer will a multi-pale ale that will be on the sweeter side.

Pre-orders are being taken now. The package will be available on February 15 and 16, just in for Shrove Tuesday/Paczki Day.

Orders can be placed online through Craft Heads website.


New Mexico State University is preparing to host the world’s largest conference dedicated to chili peppers.

The 2021 New Mexico Chile Conference is February 2nd and will be all virtual this year.

The university’s Chile Pepper Institute has been organizing the annual conference for about three decades. The conference draws experts in breeding, processing, pest management and sustainable ways to give growers a competitive advantage.

Chili has long been one of New Mexico’s signature crops. It’s the state vegetable and the basis for the official state question: Red or green?
