February 3rd is the 34th day of 2021. There are 331 days remaining until the end of the year.

Night three of Municipal Budget Deliberations ended last night with a proposed increase of 2.58%.

Last night’s meeting was extended to 10:30, and there were attempts to pass it, but they were voted down.

So they’ll meet again, tonight at 6 and if needed tomorrow too. You can follow along live on the municipality’s Facebook page.

Decisions made during deliberations are not considered final until the budget is passed.

Residents can submit written presentations of up to five minutes during deliberations. Submissions must be made by emailing [email protected] before 3 p.m. each day.

Chatham-Kent Public Health reported just 6 new COVID19 cases on Tuesday.

The number of active cases fell by 17 to 119.

Ontario is reporting 745 new cases.

Toronto Public Health’s numbers were off after identifying duplicate cases, expect that number to jump in the next update.

The Ontario government is planning to have a school reopening announcement today.

The goal is to have all schools reopen for in-person learning by the middle of next week.

All students began January with online learning as part of a provincial lockdown.

The province has since taken a staggered approach to reopening physical classrooms, starting first with Northern Ontario and rural schools where case rates are lower.

Jeff Bezos is stepping down from his post as CEO of Amazon later this year.

Bezos is staying with the company. He’s just transitioning to Executive Chair of the Amazon Board, where he plans to, “focus my energies and attention on new products and early initiatives.”

So he’ll still have a very active role at Amazon. But this also frees him up to work on other projects, like the Bezos Earth Fund, his Blue Origin spaceship company, and The Washington Post.

Bezos founded Amazon in 1994. He’s 57 years old.

Bezos will be replaced by Andy Jassy, who’s already one of the company’s top executives.

Captain Tom Moore passed away yesterday at the age of 100 years old.

He’s the U.K. veteran who raised over $45 million last year by walking outside his house. The Army veteran won the hearts of many by walking 100 laps of his garden last year during the first lockdown, raising money for charity.

He was knighted by the Queen in July in a special ceremony at Windsor Castle. His autobiography that came out in September called, Tomorrow Will Be a Good Day.

He’d been battling pneumonia after testing positive for COVID-19 last month.
