The Ford government confirmed Wednesday that students will not be back in classrooms before the end of the school year.
Premier Doug Ford said it just simply isn’t the right time to risk having students and staff assemble inside a classroom.
Ontario is the only Canadian province with schools currently closed to in-person learning.
Schools were closed to in-person learning in mid-April in the midst of the third wave across the province. There are now just over three weeks left in the school year.
During yesterdays press conference, Ford said he’s cautiously optimistic that Ontario could begin to reopen before June 14th, which would allow for the return of non-essential retail at limited capacity and outdoor patios.
Ford was scheduled to meet with his cabinet Wednesday afternoon to discuss. Any economic reopening changes would likely be announced later this week.
Second straight day of no new positive COVID-19 cases reported by Chatham-Kent Public Health on Wednesday.
There were two recoveries, the total active cases is now 15 locally.
There were 733 positive cases across Ontario reported Wednesday. The province’s seven-day average of daily new cases has dropped to below 1,000 for the first time since November.
Amazon announced Wednesday the annual Prime Day sales event will be held June 21st and 22nd.
Amazon usually holds Prime Day in the summer, but last year it was postponed until October because of the pandemic. Last year’s Prime Day was its best on record.
Over two million deals on products will be offered to Prime members this year — more than has offered in the past.
Prime Day has taken place since 2015.
A state representative in Oklahoma has announced a $3 million bounty for anyone who is able to safely capture the creature known as Bigfoot.
The rep first attempted to raise the funds for the search back in January 2021, when he introduced House Bill 1648 that would have required annual dates and created licenses and fees. He wanted the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission to create rules for a season in which people could search for Bigfoot, which would have helped promote tourism.
