September 2nd is the 245th day of 2021. There are 120 days remaining until the end of the year.

The Ontario government has announced it will be requiring COVID-19 vaccination certificates for several indoor public settings such as restaurants, gyms and nightclubs, marking a major reversal in policy for Premier Doug Ford and his cabinet.

Officials announced that as of Sept. 22, Ontario residents will need to show proof of full vaccination (having received two doses at least 14 days before entry) along with photo ID in order to access the following settings:

  • Restaurants,bars, nightclubs,
  • meeting and event spaces,
  • gyms and fitness facilities (exception for youth recreational sports),
  • sports events,
  • casinos and gaming establishments
  • concerts and music festivals
  • theatres and cinemas
  • strip clubs and bathhouses
  • racing venues.

As of Oct. 22, the Ontario government is scheduled to roll out a new QR code-based application for residents and business operators to use in order for scans. Officials said new certificates similar to the current PDF ones will be issued. The new documents will contain a unique QR code that when scanned will display the holder’s current vaccination status (yes or no) and the person’s name.

Ontario reported 656 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the data showed 504 of the new infections are in people who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

Chatham-Kent Public Health reported seven new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. Seven cases have been resolved. There are 58 active cases locally.

The newest TikTok trend is to test your cat’s intelligence by holding them up to a wall.

Some cats put their legs out to stop themselves. Others just let their owners push their face right into the wall without doing anything.

According to TikTok, putting their legs out means they’re smart. And if they don’t do it, they’re not.
