Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced Monday morning that what he called a ‘tsunami’ of new Omicron cases, will delay the return to classrooms for students and staff for two weeks. Students will begin remote learning on Wednesday morning.

Ontario is also banning indoor dining, closing gyms and lowering indoor gathering limits from 10 to 5 people, moving back to a modified Step 2 in their Roadmap to Reopen plan.


Chatham-Kent Public Health reported 263 new cases over the weekend on Monday.

There were 255 resolved cases, the number of active cases locally is 347. There were also 3 deaths; The local health unit has now logged a total of 30 deaths linked to COVID-19 since the pandemic started.

Ontario reported 13,578 new cases.

If you’re still using an old BlackBerry and haven’t updated your phone in a while, you’re going to have to if you plan on continuing to use it.

Today is the last day they’ll work. This was originally announced back in September 2020.

Some BlackBerry’s will still work, but only if they run on Android software. The company switched to Android around 2016. So if you bought your BlackBerry in the last five or six years, you’re probably okay. Devices older than that won’t be able to make calls, send texts, browse the Internet, or even call 9-1-1 anymore.

BlackBerry has been moving away from phones for a few years, and plans to just focus on software.


Kane Tanaka, the world’s oldest living person, turned 119 years old on Sunday.

Kane’s great granddaughter Junko, shared a photo on Twitter of two commemorative Coca-Cola bottles that Tanaka was given for her birthday, the labels personalized with her name and age.

“Birthday gift 1: Introducing the presents received for Kane’s birthday. Really appreciate this gift. Coca-Cola company made a commemorative birthday bottle. It seems (Kane) is still drinking Coca-Cola as usual,” Junko tweeted.

Born in 1903, Tanaka married a rice shop owner at the age of 19, and worked in the family store until she was 103.

The Guinness Book of World Records recognized her as the world’s oldest living person in 2019.
