Tesla’s can’t fart anymore, at least not while they’re in motion

About a year ago, Teslas got a “Boombox” feature that let you play any sound you wanted through an external speaker, including a bunch of pre-loaded flatulence sounds.

But the U.S. Highway Traffic Safety Administration just told them to disable it and the recall affects every Tesla on the road, about half-a-million cars.

They claim it could drown out the sound of your horn and up your chances of hitting someone. So they issued a recall, but it’s all being done through a software update. Tesla owners don’t actually have to take their car into the shop to get it fixed.

It sounds like they’re only disabling it when your car is in drive, reverse, or neutral. So you can still use it to prank people who walk by while you’re parked.
