Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of southwestern Ontario, including Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, London and Middlesex County, Elgin, Norfolk, and Oxford Counties.

Winds gusting up to 70 km/h are expected early this morning as a cold front moves through. Winds should ease up slightly in the early afternoon, but could gust from 50 to 70 km/h depending on the location.

Winds are expected to ease off this evening.


This is Easter Weekend.

Couple of notes for the weekend:

  • All Ride CK Transit services will not operate Friday
  • All Ride CK Transit services will not operate Friday
  • All arenas are closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday
  • Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will be closed Friday
  • Garbage and recycling collection will only be affected on Good Friday. Your pick up date will be Saturday this weekend.
  • The Beer and liquor store will be closed Friday, reopening on Saturday.

Chatham’s Baseball Hall of Famer, Fergie Jenkins will be honoured next month by the Chicago Cubs with a statue outside of legendary Wrigley Field.

The Cubs announced details Wednesday. The dedication for Fergie’s statue will be held May 20th before their game vs Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Cubs announced they are placing it in a new Statue Row, where the casts of Ernie Banks, Ron Santo and Billy Williams will also stand. Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray already has a statue outside the entrance to the Wrigley Field bleachers.


The Toronto Raptors begin the playoffs this weekend.

The Raps finished 5th in the conference and will play the Philadelphia 76ers.

Game one tipoff is Saturday at 6pm.

Remember Wednesday morning when we told you Ontario gas prices were dropping 5 cents per litre? Hopefully you listened and filled up.

Gas in the province is expected to jump 6 cents per litre today. The average price will be 168.9.

Kingston and Ottawa will be the cheapest spots to get gas today, staying at 162.9 cents per litre. Thunder Bay will remain the most expensive area to fill up, with prices holding steady at 192.9 cents per litre.

In Chatham-Kent this morning prices are at an average of 168.8 cents per litre.
