A Montreal law firm is launching a class action suit against Rogers Communications seeking compensation for the lack of service suffered by Canadians during the nationwide network outage July 8-9th.

The law firm is arguing that Rogers’ offer of compensation to customers in the form of a credit for two days of service is inadequate.

If authorized, the class action will seek a total of $400 for each Rpgers customer who was without service. Compensation is also being requested for non-customers who themselves were unable to use Interac or other online services because of the system crash. A lawyer has said the amount of those damages have yet to be established.

Rogers blames the breakdown on a maintenance update in the core network.

A rare barrel of single-malt Scotch from 1975 just sold for a record-breaking $19 million.

Distilled and put into barrel in 1975 by Ardbeg, a single malt producer, the “Cask No. 3” whiskey sold to an Asia-based buyer.

Cask No. 3 will continue to age over the next five years. The unnamed buyer will receive 88 bottles each year from their cask, totaling 440 individual, 700-milliliter bottles of liquor.
