Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced that the Third St. Bridge will be opening to traffic and pedestrians on Wednesday at 5pm.
The bridge opening has been delayed three times since May 2021. Most recently, the bridge was scheduled to open on July 23. However, that date was pushed back because pedestrian safety railings did not arrive on time.

NASA called off the launch of its new moon rocket yesterday because of a fuel leak and then an engine problem.
The next launch attempt will not take place until Friday at the earliest and could be off until next month.
The rocket was set to lift off on a flight to propel a crew capsule, with three test dummies aboard, into orbit around the moon. The six-week mission was scheduled to end with the capsule returning to Earth in a splashdown in the Pacific in October.

School buses will be back on the road a week from today.
The Ministry of Transportation is reminding drivers of school bus safety for all drivers.
School buses in Ontario are now using overhead amber flashing lights to indicate that they’re slowing down to prepare to pick-up or drop off passengers. The amber and red lights will make it easier for drivers and other road users to know when school buses are slowing and stopping.
When you see a school bus with its overhead amber-lights flashing:
- If you are driving and a school bus approaches, watch if the bus slows and flashes its overhead amber lights, which means that the bus is coming to a stop to pick-up or drop-off passengers.
- Slow down and prepare to stop whether you are behind or approaching a bus.
- Watch if the bus stops and flashes its overhead red-lights or activates its stop arm. This means that the bus has stopped to pick-up or drop off passengers. It is dangerous and illegal to fail to stop for a stopped school bus that has its overhead red lights flashing or its stop arm activated.
It’s a $490 fine and six demerit points if a driver runs a school bus with its red lights and stop sign out.
The updated lighting requirements came into effect on July 1st.
