Ontario residents 70 and older, who live in long-term care, and other vulnerable populations can start booking appointments to get the new COVID-19 booster shot.
The provincial system that books appointments for COVID-19 shots opened at 8am yesterday. Those who are eligible can begin receiving doses of the bivalent booster vaccine started Monday, with expanded eligibility for anyone over the age of 18 coming into effect on September 26th.
The bivalent booster is recommended at least six months after a previous dose of the vaccine.

Chatham-Kent residents can now offer their condolences over the loss of Queen Elizabeth II.
The municipality has a public condolence book available at the Civic Centre in Chatham for residents to sign.
You can sign the book in person Monday through Friday between 8:30-4:30.
If you wish to share a message virtually, that can be done on the municipality’s website.
The Department of Canadian Heritage opened up an online book of condolences last week.
Flags across Chatham-Kent were also lowered to half-staff following the news of her passing.
The Weather Network says a disturbance in the upper atmosphere will cross over the Great Lakes today, bringing with it the risk of thunderstorms and waterspouts through the day.
Mondays warm spell set a record. It marked the 112th consecutive day that temperatures have sat above 19 degrees (Celsius) a streak that started in May.
The hot air continues on Wednesday, shooting the provincial temperatures back to summertime levels by the weekend with in the averages in the upper 20s.
Next week, a mid-week cold front might call for a sweater. Temperatures will peak in the high teens on Thursday (September 21) that could be the first day we see a temperature below 20°C since June 18th.
Fall arrives September 22nd.

The WNBA is going to expand.
Exactly when and where those new franchises will be; no one knows.
WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert made the announcement Sunday. The league has narrowed its focus to about 10 cities that could host an expansion team. The WNBA had at least 100 cities under consideration before it did its due diligence.
The league plans to announce where the teams will be located by the end of the year, with hopes two teams that could begin play no later than the 2025 season.
Cities that many believe are on the list are: San Francisco, Philadelphia, Nashville and Toronto.
The WNBA will play their first-ever preseason game in Canada next season, although a location wasn’t announced.
Chatham’s Bridget Carleton played for the Minnesota Lynx last season and is currently with Team Canada.
