5 Things You Need To Know

September 7th is the 250th day of the year. There are 115 days remaining until the end of the year .


It’s Movie Night at the Capitol Theatre.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Waste Connections of Canada Ridge Landfill are hosting another household hazardous waste day this weekend.

The drop off is at one central location, Veolia Environmental, at 141 Prosperity Way near Chatham.

Saturday’s drop off will be from 8-3pm.

There are just two more household hazardous waste days this year:

  • Tuesday, October 11, 8am – 1pm
  • Tuesday, November 8, 8am – 1pm

Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous material at no charge. A list of acceptable material can found here.


Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 14 lineup at it’s Annual Apple Event this afternoon.

The company’s invite, which is always scrutinized for hidden meanings, features the night sky in the shape of the Apple logo and the tag line: “Far out.”

The announcement will take place at Apple’s Cupertino, California, headquarters and will be livestreamed on Apple’s website and social media channels beginning at 1pm.

Many are speculating that there will be major camera upgrades on iPhones to allow for better nighttime or long-distance photography. New Apple Watches and an official iOS16 release date should be announced too.


The 2022 Airshow London is back in the sky this weekend.

On the ground, people will be able to see F-16 fighting falcons, F-15E eagles, US Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey and a P-8A Poseidon.

In the air, there will be lots of different flyovers including the AF Thunderbirds, USAF F-22 Raptor Demo Team, US Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey and Acemaker T-33.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds were forced to back out after announcing an operational pause in early August after a spare jet crash landed in B.C.

Performances will be be Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For the first time in 25 years, the month of August did not have a named storm.

Things are changing quickly for September in the tropical Atlantic.

Now, two storms Danielle and Earl are currently stirring in Atlantic. Tropical Storm Earl had sustained winds of 70mph and is expected to become a hurricane today and a major hurricane by Friday.

Danielle was weakened, but holding steady, over the northern Atlantic Ocean, and forecasters expect it to continue to do so over the next few days.
