It’s the end of an era at Cedar Point amusement park, Top Thrill Dragster is being retired.
The park announced this week that after 19 seasons, its fastest and tallest roller coaster is done. They’re working to create a new ride experience.
Top Thrill Dragster took riders 420 feet high at speeds of up to 120-miles-an hour. For two years, it held the title as the world’s tallest rollercoaster until the Kingda Ka coaster opened in New Jersey. It is 139 metres tall and holds the record to this day.
The ride has been closed for the entire 2022 season. Last year a woman was injured when a small piece of metal flew off the ride and struck her in the head. It’s been closed since.
