5 Things You Need To Know

December 12th is the 346th day of the year. There are 19 days remaining until the end of the year.

The ,Chatham Goodfellows had a successful weekend of street sales, bringing in $27,500. All funds go to support the 68th annual No Child Goes Without a Christmas campaign.

Volunteers are needed to help pack toy and food hampers. If you would like to donate or volunteer, contact the Goodfellows at ChathamGoodfellows.ca.

Twitter is attempting to relaunch its premium service today, a month after their previous attempt failed.

Twitter announced on Saturday that it would let users buy subscriptions to Twitter Blue to get a blue checkmark and access special features starting Monday.
It will cost $8 a month for web users and $11 a month for iPhone users.

Subscribers will see fewer ads, be able to post longer videos and have their tweets featured more prominently.

There are four games left at the FIFA World Cup.

The semifinals will see Argentina face Croatia on Tuesday at 2.

France will play against underdog Morocco on Wednesday. The Moroccans made history by becoming the first African nation to advance in the World Cup semifinals. France is the first defending champion to have moved past the quarterfinals this century.

The final is Sunday at 10am.

Today is Green Monday.

Its always the second Monday of December and experts say it is the busiest sales day of the month, due to looming holiday shopping deadlines.

It’s also, specifically, the last Monday with at least 10 days prior to Christmas — which is important if the gift you bought needs at least 10 business days to arrive.

The “Green” in Green Monday refers to money, which shoppers are more willing to spend with less than two weeks remaining until Christmas. There is a sense of urgency, and that translates into online sales as people rush to complete their holiday shopping lists.
