Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Chatham-Kent.

Strong wind gusts are expected today. The wind is expected to ease off late this afternoon.


The Christmas Wish Tree Lighting ceremonies is tonight at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Chatham.

The ceremony starts at 6, and everyone is welcome.

You can buy a light to light up the tree in honour of a loved one. You can still donate, go to CKHAF.ca.

All proceeds from this year’s Christmas Wish Tree campaign support the purchase of new Warming Cabinets for CKHA’s Chatham and Wallaceburg sites.

The Wallaceburg tree lighting was held last night.


France will play Argentina in the FIFA World Cup Final.

They beat Morocco 2-0 to advance to the final.

France is the defending champ, defeating Croatia in 2018. No country has won consecutive World Cup’s since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

The third place game will be Croatia vs Morocco on Saturday at 10am. The final is Sunday at 2pm on CTV and TSN.


Canadian Blood Services has 25,000 empty appointments to fill before the end of the busy Christmas and New Year periods.

They are dealing with a large number of cancellations or people just not showing up; a combination of colds, flu and COVID-19 illnesses is to blame. Winter storms could further impact collections.

In June the organization set a goal of attracting 100,000 new donors to address its smallest donor base in a decade. Between 400,000 and 425,000 Canadians give blood on a regular basis. But more are needed.

Locally, there are clinics in Tilbury on December 21st, Blenheim on the 27th and the Portuguese Canadian Club on the 28th before the end of the month.


Gas prices are set to rise 2 cents today to an average of 137.9 cents per litre.

Prices rose 1 cent on Wednesday.
