Environment Canada has now issued a Winter Storm Watch for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex and most of south western Ontario.

A major winter storm expected Thursday night into Saturday.

Precipitation is expected to begin as rain or snow late this afternoon or early evening before turning to rain tonight. Temperatures are expected to plummet tomorrow morning leading to a potential flash freeze. Rapidly falling temperatures will come with damaging winds along with snow heavy at times. Extensive blowing snow will develop Friday morning.

Very cold wind chills are expected Friday and persist into the weekend.

Take a second look at travel plans and keep an eye on the forecast.

The C-K Salvation Army is closing in on its goal of $500,000 with the annual kettle campaign.

The organization is about $70,000 short at the moment.

Kettles remain out in Chatham, Wallaceburg and Blenheim until the afternoon on Christmas Eve. Every dollar raised at those kettles, goes to the community it was donated in.

The Toronto skyline will have a slightly different look to it after the latest upgrade to the Rogers Centre was announced this week.

The Rogers Centre, opening in 1989 as the Skydome, is getting a $300 million renovation

A big change to the stadium’s exterior was shown off on Tuesday, with a new colour-changing lighting on the roof.

To go along with the colour changing CN Tower, the TO skyline is lit.


Speaking of baseball…

The new Chatham IBL team is looking for a name.

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is the top-level amateur baseball league in Canada. The Chatham team will start play in May 2024, at the Fergie Jenkins (Rotary Park) on Tweedsmuir Ave.

Fans are asked to submit a name for the team. Team names should include a local connection, family friendly and over the top fun. The fan that submits the winning name will win a family seasons pass.
