Environment Canada has issued another Special Weather Statement for Chatham-Kent and Windsor Essex.

Freezing rain and strong winds are supposed to pick up this afternoon.

Snow and ice pellets will transition to freezing rain, with 70-80km/h winds. Once the temperatures start to rise, we’ll be left with showers overnight.

The Chatham Maroons regular season wrapped up with a 5-4 win over Komoka last night.

The Maroons finished the regular season in 5th place, with 54 points.

Chatham will play Lasalle in the first round of the playoffs. Schedule will be released soon.

The PJHL regular season continues for another week for the Blenheim Blades, Dresden Kings, Wheatley Sharks and Wallaceburg Thunderhawks.


For the first time in its 53-year history the Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa will not open for skating this winter.

The mild temperatures this winter will prevent the world’s largest skating rink from opening.

The Rideau Canal Skateway first opened in 1971. The previous latest opening was February 2nd in 2002. The shortest season on the skateway was 16 days in 2016.


The Boston Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 on Saturday, but the highlight was when Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark scored a goal.

He’s the first Bruins goaltender to ever do it, and the 13th in NHL history.


On April 1st we’ll all be paying more for alcohol.

The tax hike could come in at 6.3% — the largest Canada has seen in 40 years.

Every year since 2017, the federal government has been automatically adjusting what many call the “alcohol escalator tax” on April 1. The increase is based on the Consumer Price Index.

Last April, the tax automatically shot up by 2.4%.
