Olivia Chow will be the next mayor of Toronto.

A byelection for a new mayor was needed after John Tory stepped down on February 17th after announcing he had an “inappropriate relationship” with someone who used to work on his staff.

“If you ever doubted what’s possible, if you ever questioned your faith in a better future and what we can do with each other, for each other, tonight is your answer,” she said.

A record 102 candidates were on the ballot.

The NHL Awards were handed out in Nashville last night.

26-year-old Connor McDavid won four major awards, including the league’s MVP; it’s his third time being named the most valuable player. He’s just the second player to win all four of those awards in a single season.

Next up is the NHL Draft, with Round 1 on Wednesday and then the free agent period begins on Saturday.

This year’s World’s Ugliest Dog was crowned on Friday and the winner is Scooter.

Scooter is a 7-year-old Chinese Crested, who is bald, and has backward-facing hind legs and his tongue hangs out of his mouth.

The event is held annually in California, as part of the Sonoma-Marin Fair.
