Chatham-Kent will deal with another smokey day today, Environment Canada issued a Special Air Quality Statement Tuesday morning and it’s expected to stay in place for today.
Smoke plumes from forest fires over northeastern Ontario and Quebec have moved into the area, resulting in deteriorated air quality. Residents are encouraged to reduce their exposure to wildfire smoke as it can be harmful to one’s health, even at low concentrations.
Conditions are expected to improve for some areas on Thursday.
The Chatham-Kent Fire Department is asking residents to not participate in any type of open-air burning at this time.

The Chatham Concert Band returns to Tecumseh Park tonight for Summer Concerts in the Park.
This is the 96th year for the Summer Concert Series, the show is free beginning at 7pm.
Parking is still available at the Chatham Cultural Centre, but due to construction on William St., you’ll have to enter the lot from behind. Access to Tecumseh Park will be via the pedestrian access at Stanley Ave.

The one-time grocery rebate will be issued next Wednesday, July 5th.
The amount is calculated based on your family situation in January 2023 and your 2021 adjusted family net income.
The grocery rebate won’t arrive as a separate deposit in your bank account. Instead, it’ll be integrated with the regular GST/HST credit scheduled for July 5, says the CRA.
It was introduced by the Liberals in the 2023 fiscal budget back in March as part of the Cost of Living Relief Act, or Bill C-64. The House of Commons unanimously approved the legislation in April, and it passed the Senate in early May.

It looks like the holder of the winning $70 million winning Lotto Max ticket will not be coming forward to claim their price.
For the last few months, the OLG has asked people to check their tickets for the June 28, 2022 draw. The ticket that won the jackpot was sold in the Scarborough area. The ticket was bought in store, and has never been scanned.
This will be the largest Canadian jackpot to go unclaimed. The ticket holder has until 10:30pm tonight to come forward.
The Buffalo Wild Wings in Windsor has closed.
The chain restaurant at Devonshire Mall, opened ten years ago in April 2013.
On Sunday, the signs were being removed from the front of the building, and it had been marked as closed online.
