Environment Canada says there’s about a 30 per cent chance of rain Saturday, Sunday and Monday with highs in the upper 20s each day.
The Special Air Quality Statement issued by Environment Canada due to wildfire smoke has been extended in Chatham-Kent until Saturday.
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is reminding residents that smoke exposure can be harmful, even at low concentrations. People with lung or heart disease, older adults, children, women who are pregnant and people who work outdoors are at higher risk for health effects.
There is currently no burn ban in effect by the Chatham-Kent fire department, but they are asking residents not to participate in any type of open-air burning at this time.

Wallaceburg will hold its Canada Day celebrations on Saturday from 12 pm – 6 pm at the Wallaceburg Community Centre parking lot.
Join in an event offering fun for the whole family with kids’ activities and games, entertainment, local vendors and more.
Blenheim’s celebrations will take place from 6 pm – 9 pm Saturday at Glad Tidings Church. The event will feature outdoor music, dance performances, inflatables, vendors and food.

Drivers of certain 1998 to 2016 vehicles are eligible for a piece of a $78 million class action settlement.
According to CTV News, The settlements come from 23 Canadian class actions and affect vehicles from a dozen automakers, including BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.
A protocol for distributing the approximately $78 million received court approval on Wednesday.
The parts manufacturers that are paying the settlements have not admitted any liability or wrongdoing.
Consumers and businesses that purchased or leased a new vehicle between July 1, 1998 and Sept. 30, 2016 are eligible.
Applications can be made online at autopartsettlement.ca until Oct. 30, 2023.
