Tonight Classic Vibe takes the stage at 7. Sidestreets will host a BBQ beginning at 7.

The Blenheim Rotary Club hosts Summer Concerts in the Park.

This week it’s British Beat 66 on the stage.

The Bank of Canada has raised its benchmark interest rate by another 25 basis points Wednesday. The key interest rate now stands at 5% following back-to-back hikes.

That’s the highest it’s been since 2001. The Bank of Canada says the rate increase was necessary to help slow economic growth and reduce core inflation.

Raising the interest rate increases the cost of borrowing for Canadians, particularly for homeowners renewing their mortgages or those with variable-rate loans that see payments rise in line with the central bank’s benchmark rate.

The Bank of Canada’s next rate decision comes down September 6th.

Blenheim Cherryfest and Sidewalk sales begins today!

Cherryfest is one of Chatham-Kent’s longest-running and oldest festivals. It’s been a yearly tradition since the ’80s.

World’s Finest Shows is handling the midway. The Blenheim Youth Centre has again teamed up with Parks Blueberries to bake pies this year, while local business A Taste of Home is also baking pies. Sidewalk sales, entertainment capped off with the Canadian Cherry Pit Spit competition on Saturday beginning at 1.
