It’s now been confirmed that a tornado hit the South Buxton area on Thursday afternoon.

South Buxton was hit by an EF1 tornado after a survey team investigated reported damage in the area and found evidence for a tornado in that location.

The group said the over land tornado hit at 4:50pm and damaged several roofs, homes, barns, trees, and crops in the South Buxton and Dealtown areas. The tornado had an estimated maximum wind speed of 175 km/h for 10.5 kilometres with a maximum path width of 850 metres.

No injuries were reported.
