Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Chatham-Kent and most of Southwestern Ontario.
Temperatures will reach the 30’s today and tomorrow and with the humidex that will make it feel like 39C. Friday is expected to be extremely hot with humidex values reaching 40C. Cooler temperatures are expected Saturday.
Drink plenty of water even before feeling thirsty, stay in a cool place, and check on older family, friends and neighbours. People or pets should never be left inside of a parked vehicle, and outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
This is just the second heat advisory issued in the area so far this year, compared to seven issued during the same time last year.
Last year, the region saw nine heat advisories issued in total.
The Chatham Concert Band returns to Tecumseh Park tonight for Summer Concerts in the Park.
This is the 96th year for the Summer Concert Series, the show is free beginning at 7pm.

Canada will play its second game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup this morning at 8am against Ireland.
After playing to a scoreless draw against Nigeria in the opening game, Canada needs some points to keep the World Cup dream alive. Canada is ranked 7th in the tournament, Ireland 22nd.
Canada’s final game in the group stage is Monday at 6am. All games can be watched on TSN.
The annual Athletes’ Fuel Cup hockey tournament begins next week at Thames Campus arena.
The first games will be Tuesday and wrap up with playoff games on August 22nd.
Some of C-K’s best hockey players get ready for the season in a tournament that includes Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman T.J. Brodie, AHL all-star forward Seth Griffith and OHLer Deni Goure of the Owen Sound Attack.

Another big lottery jackpot down south.
No winners in the Mega Millions draw last night. The jackpot now rises to $910 million – the eighth largest in U.S. history. The winner will have to choose a $910 million payout spread over 30 annual installments or a lump sum payment of $464.2 million. The next draw is Friday.
And although nothing official, it does look like there will two winning Lotto Max tickets sold in Western Canada, splitting $70 million between them.
