5 Things You Need To Know

August 25th is the 237th day of the year. There are 128 days remaining until the end of the year.

The intense weather over night has left thousands of people in the dark across the region.

At last check, Entengrus is reporting 12,000 customers without power in Chatham and hundreds more in Bothwell, Erieau, and Tilbury. Hydro One is also reporting widespread outages.

There are currently no restoration times as crews work to clean up the damage from last nights storm.

Chatham-Kent Fire and Police have some safety reminders for residents following the storm.

With several downed power lines across the municipality, CK Fire is reminding residents to assume all downed wires are live and dangerous. If you encounter live wires, stay back and call 911.

When it comes to flooded basements, CHatham-Kent police remind you to prioritize personal safety and evacuate if there are electrical or structural risks.

An online survey is now open to get Chatham-Kent resident feedback on the Imagine Chatham-Kent downtown Chatham project.

A new plan for the Downtown Chatham Centre no longer includes a 4,000 seat entertainment complex with an arena. The public will now be asked what they think of the five options on the table.

You can take the survey by clicking here.

In-person public engagement sessions are planned for September 13th and 20th at the John D. Bradley Centre.

Sunday is National Cinema Day.

To celebrate, theatres across Canada will offer movie tickets for $4 (plus applicable taxes), for any movie in any format.

Chatham Galaxy Cinemas is participating in National Cinema Day, to see all theatres click here.

This weekend looks like it will be another mixed bag of weather.

On Saturday, Environment Canada says there is a slight chance of showers, otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high of 24C

No rain in the forecast for Sunday, sunshine on and off with a high of 23C.
