Operation Backpack is underway.

You can visit the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham to purchase or drop off backpacks and supplies in support of FreeHelpCK’s backpack program.

You’ll be helping students from Elementary to Post-Secondary by providing a new backpack to those in school in September. FreeHelpCK will be filling the backpacks up with supplies for the upcoming school year with things like pencils, crayons and paper for the little kids or binders, notebooks, highlighters and pens for the older kids.

Details about how to register to receive a free backpack are expected to be revealed on FreeHelpCK’s social media in the near future.


The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

Today’s movie is ‘Memory’ starring Liam Neeson. Movies start at 2 pm.


We’ll find out what teams will make it to the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinals this morning.

Columbia is taking on Jamaica right now, with the winner facing off against England in the quarter-finals, while France takes on Morocco a little later this morning, the winner of that match will take on Australia.

The Elite Eight round kicks off on Thursday night with Spain taking on the Netherlands.

Team Canada exited the tournament after falling 4-0 to Australia last week, while Team USA was eliminated over the weekend.


After a few days off, the Athletes Fuel Cup is back in action tonight at the Thames Campus Arena in Chatham.

Some of C-K’s best hockey players get ready for the season in the tournament that includes Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman T.J. Brodie, AHL all-star forward Seth Griffith and OHLer Deni Goure of the Owen Sound Attack.

Games will be starting at 6:30 tonight. The next round goes on Thursday night.

The tournament will wrap up with playoff games on August 22nd.

There is no cost to enter.
