5 Things You Need To Know

October 17th is the 290th day of the year. There are 75 days remaining until the end of the year.

Today is Tampon Tuesday.

Feminine hygiene products are some of the most requested, but under-donated, items at food banks and outreach programs throughout the community.

The United Way of Chatham-Kent and Women United are hosting a drive thru drop off to collect menstrual products from 9-3 at 425 McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.

The donations will be divided up and given to organizations and programs throughout Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

Book your spot today to see Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Movies start at 2pm.

The CP Holiday Train is coming back to Chatham this holiday season!

It will stop at the John D. Bradley Centre on November 24th at 2:30.

Seaforth and Keisza will be performing between 2:45 and 3:15.

The event is free but CP encourages people to bring food donations to help address hunger in their communities. Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to ensure those less fortunate have enough healthy food this holiday season.

On Monday flag football, baseball, softball, cricket, lacrosse and squash were added to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic program by the International Olympic Committee.

Flag football and squash make their Olympic debuts as medal sports. Returning to the program are baseball (previously a medal sport from 1992-2008 and in Tokyo), softball (1996-2008 and in Tokyo), cricket (1900) and lacrosse (1904, 1908).

Unfortunately , breakdancing will not return, after it makes its debut in Paris in 2024.

The interesting thing about the addition of flag football is that we might see NFL players on the teams. Ditto for Major League stars in baseball.

Best Buy is phasing out its DVD and Blu-ray sales by early next year.

The old physical movie discs will continue to be sold in-stores and online through the holidays. Video games will not be impacted.

Best Buy revealed that they made the decision to end DVD sales nine months ago.
