Saturday is CHiRP Day in C-K!

Firefighters from all 19 fire stations, along with community partners will be taking to the streets, knocking on doors, and visiting homes to check your alarms.

Book a CHiRP Check by visiting CKFire.ca or calling 311.

During a CHiRP Home Alarm Check, firefighters visit your home to ensure your smoke & carbon monoxide alarms are working, correctly located & not expired. Have alarms that need replacing? We can help with that too.

If you see a fire truck on your street, come over for a truck tour from one of the firefighters.


Breakfast on the Farm: Brunch Edition will take place tomorrow at Laprise Farms (7359 Maple Line near Pain Court) from 10-2.

The event is put on by Farm & Food Care Ontario, with the goal of connecting local residents with farmers. Breakfast on the Farm has been happening across Ontario for about 13 years, usually 3 times a year. This is the first time its hosted in C-K.

Laprise Farms is the largest operation in Canada for brussels sprouts.

Tickets are $10 a person, and kids 12 and under are free. Tickets must be bought in advance, online through Event Brite.


Uber Eats is now available in Chatham.

You can order delivery from your favourite restaurants and alcohol, and more on Uber Eats.

Door Dash and Skip the Dishes are also available locally.


Gas prices are expected to go up some four cents a litre this weekend across most of Ontario due to the conflict in the Middle East and other factors.

The pumps are expected to rise to $1.569 per litre.

Locally, as of 5:30am: Chatham is still averaging 146.5, Wallaceburg at 154.9, Blenheim and Tilbury at 147.

A shift in the temperatures this weekend, according to Environment Canada.

A mild so Fall so far, we have scattered showers today, high 15. Off and on rain Saturday before clouds roll in Saturday night. We could wake up to frost Sunday morning and temperatures will be right around freezing at the bus stop on Monday morning.

Warmer temperatures could return Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
