Tomorrow night we could see some strong winter weather.

Environment Canada says the province is set to see a massive and powerful winter storm that will bring widespread strong winds and even more heavy snow. Along with that we’ll have some much colder air.

The storm is set to begin late Friday. Meteorologists say the winter storm is forecast to undergo “bombogenesis” a term used to describe when a cold air mass collides with a warm air mass, often referred to as a bomb cyclone.

The system will begin in southwestern Ontario Friday evening and engulf the rest of the province by midnight. Our area may see rain or mixed weather.

Parts of the province are expecting 10-20 centimetres of snow, with some areas seeing more than 20 centimetres.

Next week, the polar vortex will drop temperatures to a frigid -13C!

Chatham-Kent is no longer Canada’s top U-Haul growth city, that honour now goes to Calgary.

C-K was the top spot in 2022, but after a review of the 2023 numbers, incoming traffic has dropped 10%. Chatham-Kent is still on top for Ontario cities.

U-Haul calculates growth cities by each city’s net gain (or loss) of one-way equipment from customer transactions in a calendar year. The U-Haul Growth Index is compiled from more than 2.5 million one-way U-Haul truck, trailer and U-Box moving container transactions annually in Canada and the U.S. So basically, the number of U-Haul rentals that end in a particular city from year to year.

LuLu Lotus from Mississauga, broke the Guinness World Record for loudest nose whistle: 44.1 decibels. That’s as loud as some birdcalls.

To break it, she needed special equipment that costs thousands of dollars. So she went to a place that specializes in precision sound recording. It happened in 2022, but Guinnes just recently made it official.

She can do it intentionally and even whistle songs. She’s not totally sure how, but says it has something to do with controlling the muscles in her throat.

She realized she could do it when she was seven and has to have her mouth closed for it to work. So she used to prank her teachers with it at school.

Her five-year-old son just found out he can do it too. She says it would be great if he broke her record someday.
