5 Things You Need To Know

January 19th is the 19th day of the year. There are 347 days remaining until the end of the year.


The 21st Annual Toy Show and Sale is Sunday at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre.

Come and see: farm toys, trains, sports cards, trucks, construction, model ships, books, planes, cars, action figures, dolls, collectibles, coins, and more!

The show is open Sunday from 10-3. Adults are $5, students $2 and 6 and under is free. Proceeds to: Chatham-Kent 4-H Farm Toy Club and Chatham Outreach for Hunger.


The Chatham-Kent Polar Plunge is this weekend.

Money raised will support Special Olympics Ontario and the athletes.

Come by Sons of Kent tomorrow and check out one of the plunges. Registration starts at noon and plunges start at 2pm. And if you’d like to take the plunge, you can still register.


Last weekends Detroit Lions win brought in a record-setting audience: the game averaged 35.8 million viewers across all platforms.

That made it the most-watched primetime show on TV since last season’s Super Bowl.

The Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs is this weekend.

Saturday:
Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens at 4:30
Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers at 8:15

Sunday:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Detroit Lions at 3:00
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills at 6:30

The Super Bowl is February 11th in Las Vegas.


There are a couple more options coming for sub sandwiches in Canada.

U.S. sandwich chain Jimmy John’s will come north of the border for the first time with an expansion that will start with a location in the Toronto Area in mid-2024.

They didn’t announce the exact whereabouts yet, but more locations will follow throughout Canada. The company dates back to 1983, it’s never gone beyond the U.S. until now.

Jersey Mike’s Subs has announced plans for 300+ new locations across Canada.

Currently there are only two locations in Ontario: Kitchener & London. Five new Jersey Mike’s Subs will launch in Ontario this year, no locations given.


Instagram is going to begin sending nighttime nudges to teenagers, who have been on the app for more than 10 minutes late at night.

The nudges are meant to encourage teens to take a break and sign off for the evening. Instagram is implementing this feature to help young users manage their social media time and prioritize sleep.
