5 Things You Need To Know

March 11th is the 69th day of the year. There are 295 days remaining until the end of the year.


After a chilly weekend, the temperatures for March Break aren’t looking as bad.

According to Environment Canada, the week will start with some sunshine and a high of 10C on Monday. The sun should continue into mid-week with highs around 16C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The double-digit temperatures will continue into the later part of the week, however we could see some rain showers.


If you’re staying in town for March Break, there’s plenty to do to keep the family busy.

CKRecreation is offering some free swim sessions in Wallaceburg and Blenheim.

At the Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool, free swims are happening Monday to Friday 2:30-4 p.m.

There are also free swim sessions at the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool Monday to Saturday 2:30-4 p.m. with some bonus swim times on Friday and Saturday from 6-8 p.m.

Several free skates will also be happening across Chatham-Kent this week. On Monday you can come on out for a skate at:

-Dresden Arena; 11:30 am – 1 pm

-Wallaceburg Arena; 11:30 am – 1 pm

-Tilbury Arena; 12:30 pm – 2 pm

-Wheatley Arena; 12:30 pm – 2pm

-Thames Campus Arena; 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Schedules have been released for Round 2 of PJHL play-off action.

The Wheatley Omstead Sharks will take on the Lakeshore Canadiens starting Tuesday at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore at 7pm.

The rest of the series schedule is as follows:

Game 2: March 13 in Wheatley @ 7:30 pm

Game 3: March 15 in Lakeshore @ 7 pm

Game 4: March 16 in Wheatley @ 4:30 pm

Despite the lost hour of sleep from Daylight Savings Time over the weekend, there is some good news.

Clocks sprung forward one hour on Sunday morning, ushering in six months of longer days. We now won’t see another sunset before 7 p.m. until September 30.

The sun will set in Chatham-Kent at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.


The 2024 Oscars were held on Sunday night, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel

The biopic Oppenheimer took home the top statue of Best Picture.  Christopher Nolan won for best director for  Oppenheimer and Cillian Murphy took home Best Actor for the film.

Emma Stone took home Best Actress for Poor Things.
