This is National Volunteer Week across Canada.
It is a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 24 million volunteers.
The National Volunteer Week theme for 2024 is “Every Moment Matters”. It highlights the importance of every volunteer and each contribution they make at a moment when we need support more than ever. The sharing of time, skills, empathy, and creativity is vital to the inclusivity, strength, and wellbeing of our communities.
This Summer Paris will host the Olympics and Team Canada is revealed the look they’ll be going with this time around on Tuesday.
Team Canada is working with Lululemon again for the Summer Olympics and Paralympics kits. A fashion show featured garments to be worn on the podium, during opening and closing ceremonies, media interviews and daily life at the games in France.
Red and white colours provide the base but some different colours are worked in. The kit also included features like magnetic-close zippers, pull-on loops, and sensory touch guides to support a diverse range of body types and abilities.
Some pieces are already available for purchase on the Lululemon website, but be ready to spend big bucks.
It’s the first Summer Games for Lululemon since becoming outfitter for the 2022 Beijing Winter Games. Lululemon’s deal lasts through the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. Hudson’s Bay Company’s 16-year run as Canadian outfitter ended after the Tokyo Summer Games in 2021.
The Olympics are set for July 26-August 11. The Paralympics will be held from August 28-September 8.
The NHL season is winding down, and the playoff picture is getting clearer.
The playoffs are set to begin on Saturday, and unfortunately for Detroit Red Wings they will not be involved. Despite a push to the end in the very last game, the Washington Capitals win last night eliminated the Wings.
The Toronto Maple Leafs laid an egg on the road in Florida losing 5-2. With the loss they will play the Boston Bruins in Round 1 of the playoffs. The Leafs last game of the season is tonight in Tampa with Auston Matthews still one goal away from hitting 70 on the season.
The playoff schedule has not been released.
There’s a new addition on the Tim Hortons menu today: flatbread pizzas.
The company’s goal is to get diners in the door after the breakfast rush.
Tim Hortons has been working on a two-year flatbread pizza pilot and launches today with cheese, pepperoni, “bacon everything” and chicken Parmesan pizzas.
Next month Timmies will celebrate their 60th anniversary.
