Gas prices will rise today. A lot.

Most stations in the province will see prices jump 14 cents per litre up to $1.79. That’s the highest level seen since August 2022. The increase is due to the higher cost of summer blended gasoline. The cheaper winter blend won’t return until the fall.

Locally, as of 5:30 a.m. there are a few stations at 177.9.

One month from today, May 18th, the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers will play their first home game.

The Barnstormers are joining the Intercounty Baseball League this season and will play their first game on the road against the Brantford Red Sox on Friday, May 17th. The home opener at Fergie Jenkins Field will be on Saturday, May 18th against the Kitchener Panthers.

Owner/President Dom Dinelle will be in studio with CKMORNINGS after 8 a.m. this morning.

Tickets are still available for all home games, click here to purchase.

The regular season is over for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they fell 6-4 to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Leafs will play the Boston Bruins in the first round beginning on Saturday at 8 p.m. Only the first game of the series has been announced so far.

Centre Auston Matthews was unable to find the back of the net in his last two games and ends the season with 69 goals to lead the league. He was unsuccessful in becoming the seventh player in NHL history to score 70.

Chatham-Kent’s TJ Brodie was able to score, his first of the season and his first in 111 games!
