The C-K Barnstormers will play an exhibition game tonight at Fergie Jenkins Field.
Admission is free, gates open at 6:05 and first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
The Barnstormers will play a Senior All Star team. The regular season starts on the road next Friday in Brantford, before the home opener on Saturday.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Waste Connections of Canada Ridge Landfill are hosting another household hazardous waste day Saturday.
The drop off is at Veolia Environmental, at 141 Prosperity Way near Chatham.
Today’s drop off will be from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
These are the household hazardous waste days for 2024:
- Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Residents can safely dispose of household hazardous material at no charge. A list of acceptable material can found here.
This will be the second (of four) free fishing periods in Ontario this year.
This means you do not need to buy a fishing license if you want to fish during:
- Mother’s Day Weekend (May 11–12, 2024)
- Father’s Day Weekend (June 15–16, 2024)
- Family Fishing Week (June 29–July 7, 2024)
Family Day weekend was the first. During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.

The World Video Game Hall of Fame – The Strong National Museum of Play just announced their four inductees for 2024.
They are: Asteroids, Myst, Resident Evil, SimCity and Ultima.
To become eligible for the Hall of Fame, a video game has to meet four criteria: First, it has to have icon status, meaning it’s widely recognized and remembered. Second, it has to have longevity, so it has to be more than a fad. Third, it has to have geographical reach, and fourth, it has to have influence, whether that’s in pop culture or with the development of future games.
The finalists that didn’t make it are Elite, Guitar Hero, Metroid, Neopets, Tokimeki Memorial, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and You Don’t Know Jack.
