Spring cleaning of the municipality’s bridges will continue today.

Spring bridge washing continues today. The Base Line Bridge in Wallaceburg and the Tupperville Road Bridge in Tupperville will be washed, with both bridges remaining open during the cleaning. The work will be done between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lane closures will be required.

Tomorrow, the Prairie Siding Bridge will be washed. This is the shortest scheduled disruption, lasting from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bridge will remain open, requiring single-lane closures during the cleaning.

Heads up: your cellphone, radio and tv will receive an alert this afternoon.

The federal government will test its capacity to issue emergency alerts today.

These routine tests of the Alert Ready system typically happen twice per year. The next one is set for November 2024.

The emergency alert system is in place to warn Canadians of a long list of threatening events, from earthquakes, floods, forest fires, nuclear incidents, tornadoes, and potentially dangerous weather conditions.

The test is scheduled for 12:55pm.

Some Swiss Army Knives are about to become less sharp.

The Swiss company that makes the legendary Swiss Army Knife is called Victorinox and they’re in the early stages of developing the first range of blade-less products.

There is a reason. There’s been a “plague of knife crime” in some European countries, which has led to several countries adding stricter bans or restrictions on carrying knives, including Swiss Army Knives.

There are already more than 400 different types of Swiss Army Knives targeting different jobs, outdoor activities, and sports but until now, they have all had at least one blade.

There are no specifics on the new blade-less knives or when they’ll be available, but Victorinox says they’ll act more as tools where a blade isn’t usually required. Like a version for cyclists or for golfers.
