The Dresden Ag Society has a busy weekend planned at the race track.

Stop by Saturday for the ATV Rodeo and Mini Tractor Pull. Registration is at 9 a.m., barrel races at 10:30. The Pulls start at 1:30. $5 admission.

The Demo Derby will be Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is $20, Kids 10 and under are free.


A rainout on the last weekend didn’t damped the spirits for the Southern Ontario Motor Speedway, instead they’ll have twice as much racing over the long weekend.

The track has announced a doubleheader beginning tomorrow night.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Mini Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Mini Mods and UMP Late Models will compete both nights. UMP Modifieds also will race Saturday.


The NFL‘s full regular-season schedule was announced last night.

The Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will host Ravens in NFL opener on September 5th. The Detroit Lions will open the season at home on Sunday Night Football and a playoff rematch with former QB Matt Stafford and the LA Rams September 8th.

Detroit will host the Chicago Bears on U.S. Thanksgiving (November 28) Another playoff rematch in prime time will see them play the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football (December 30)

The Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets have the most prime time games with 6. The Lions have 5.

The NFL has announced the two Christmas Day games will air on Netflix this season. NFL games will be shown on Fox, CBS, NBC, ESPN, Amazon Prime and TSN & CTV in Canada.


The PGA Championship tees off this morning at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

It’s the second major tournament following the Masters last month. Brooks Koepka was the 2023 winner. The winner this year will receive $3.15 million.

World #1 Scottie Scheffler is the odds-on favorite coming off back-to-back wins, including a second Masters title. Scheffler and his wife Meredith also are expecting the birth of their first child any day now.

Today is National Caesar Day! National Caesar Day falls each year on the Thursday before the May 2-4 long weekend – the unofficial Canadian kick-off to Summer.

The Caesar was invented in 1969 by the restaurant manager of the Calgary Inn (today it’s the Westin Hotel) in Calgary, Alberta. It’s now known as Canada’s National Cocktail.

THE CLASSIC CAESAR
Ingredients:
1 oz (30 mL) vodka
2 dashes hot sauce
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3 grinds fresh cracked salt and pepper
4 oz (120 mL) Mott’s Clamato Original Cocktail

Rimmer:
Celery salt or Mott’s Clamato Rimmer

Garnish:
Celery stalk or lime wedge

Directions:
Rim a highball glass with citrus and rimmer. Fill the glass to the top with ice. Add the ingredients in the order listed. Stir well to mix the cocktail, and garnish.
