May 27th is the 148th day of the year. There are 218 days remaining until the end of the year.


The Chatham-Kent Council meeting for tonight has been moved from the Civic Centre to the John D. Bradley Convention Centre.

Administration is expecting a larger than normal public turnout, so a larger venue was needed.

The meeting will start at 6pm and take place in the grand ballroom.

Today is the final Monday of the month, on the first Monday of each month the Chatham-Kent Film Group screens an independent film.

On Monday, June 3rd, the film group will show Driving Madeleine at the Capitol Theatre.

Showings at 4 and 7pm. Admission is $10 and tickets can be purchased at the door.

The next film screening will be held on Monday, July 8th, because of the Canada Day Holiday.


The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers now have their first losing streak. C-K has now lost 3 in a row.

On Saturday night, the Barnstormers battled but couldn’t get by the Hamilton Cardinals falling 6-3 and then were outslugged on Sunday falling 13-3 to the Guelph Royals.

The Barnstormers don’t play another home game until Saturday, June 8th against the Brantford Red Sox, Saturday against Barrie again and Kitchener on Sunday. Tickets online at CKBarnstormers.com.

It’s Memorial Day in the U.S.

It’s a day for honouring the men and women who have died while on duty with the U.S. military and it is a day where Americans across the country pay their respects, often by visiting military cemeteries or memorials.

The holiday is observed on the last Monday of May.
