The Heat Warning issued by Environment Canada will stay in place for the week and possibly into the weekend.

Sun and cloud again today with a chance of morning showers, possibly a thunderstorm. High of 34, will feel like 42 with the humidex.

Look out for signs of heat illness such as swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions. Those more at-risk are older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has opened the following locations for anyone in need of relief:

  • Municipal libraries and service centres are open during their regular business hours.
  • The Employment and Social Services office is open 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday and is located at 435 Grand Ave. W., Chatham.
  • Chatham Hope Haven is open from 10 am to 2 pm every day. They are located at 183 Wellington Street West, Chatham.
  • ROCK Missions is open Monday-Friday from 1 pm to 5 pm. They are located at 233 Nelson St., Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Public Library hosts Movies @ Your Library every Tuesday at the Chatham branch.

The Boston Celtics are NBA champions. Again.

The Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 last night to win the franchise’s 18th championship, breaking a tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most in league history.

It’s the 13th championship won this century by one of Boston’s Big 4 professional sports franchises; Celtics, Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox.


The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers are on the road to London tonight to take on the Majors.

The Barnstormers are in 7th after a pair of wins on the weekend. London is in second.

First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

The Ford International Fireworks Show is Monday evening on the Windsor/Detroit waterfront. This is the 66th year of the show.

The 24-minute show is expected to start at 10:06pm.

Many Windsor streets will have restricted access to the downtown area beginning at 6, meaning parking will be tight. Transit Windsor will offer Windsor city bus at no cost on Monday night, 6 to midnight. There’s also a free shuttle bus service that will travel continuously between Devonshire Mall and a downtown drop-off.

Windsor Police are asking families to take photo of their kids at the beginning of the event, in the same clothes they’re wearing that night. Police say this will ensure you can provide officers with a recent and accurate photo if they are separated during the evening.
