The first week of July looks like it’ll be a mixed bag of weather, according to Environment Canada
Tuesday we’ll see sunshine with a high of 27C. The sunshine could be shortlived with showers expected on Wednesday and a high of 30C.
We’ll see a little break of sunshine again later into the week before rain is expected to return heading into the weekend.
There’s a blood donor clinic today at the Ken Houston Arena in Dresden.
The clinic is 2-7 pm.
No walk-in appointments are available, however, you can book your appointment at Blood.ca, by calling 1-888-2-DONATE or using the Canadian Blood Services app.
CKRecreation kicks off their Summer Fest schedule today with free swims.
Both indoor and outdoor pools in Chatham-Kent will offer Free Rec Swims and Free Parent and Tot Swims at select times throughout the summer.
On Tuesday, there are Free Parent and Tot Swims from 11 am – 12pm and Free Rec Swims from 1:30 – 4 pm and 6:30 – 8 pm at Blenheim Gable Rees Rotary Pool as well as a Free Rec Swim from 1:30 – 4 pm at Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool.

On Thursday, CKRec kicks off their Party in the Park series at Chatham Taylor Park from 5 – 7 pm. The night will feature crafts, activities, and games-all for free!
The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers won one and lost one over the Canada Day long weekend.
The Barnstormers’ game against the Hamilton Cardinals was postponed on Saturday night because of the weather.
It was a close one but the Barnstormers ultimately fell 4-3 against reigning IBL champions the Welland Jackfish.
The team was able to turn things around and get a 9-7 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
The Barnstormers will take on the Panthers in Kitchener on Thursday. The team isn’t back home again until Saturday, July 13 against Hamilton.

Free family fishing week continues in the province.
It’s one of only four times a year, that Canadian residents can fish in Ontario for free. This means you do not need to buy a fishing licence if you want to fish during free fishing week.
Continuing with the fishing theme, The Great Erie Salmon and Walleye Hunt is underway until July 16 in Erieau. Coming up later this week, the Canadian Tire Mitchell’s Bay Open takes place on Friday and Saturday.
